My Fall Wreath

This past weekend was fun-filled. First Son 1 came home and my whole family enjoyed dinner at the Mermaid Restaurant. The next night Son 2 had a Middle School dance to attend. I did not get too many details from him but he seemed to have a great time. You can see him with his very good buddies in the photo. By the way it was a tie dye theme but he did not want to wear tie die. Don't fight the small stuff. I continued searching for items for our new bathroom and made the wreath you see above. Mr. Sparkling was in his element with a bazillion football games on TV. We had friends over for dinner and I will post photos of the table tomorrow.

Now for the wreath. I really was not sure what I wanted to do, but knew if I just went to the craft store the ideas would flow. READER ADVISORY!! READ CAREFULLY!! Do not go to the craft store on a Saturday. It was so busy I could not get down the aisles and the checkout line might as well have been some place in Europe.

At any rate, I put my blinders on and started looking at the offerings. When I saw this wonderful green, berry wreath I knew it was the one. I had already purchased the orange damask fabric on sale last week and thought it would look really nice with the berry wreath and, of course, the right flowers. I began pulling flowers trying to get the right color combination. When I realized that two ladies were standing behind me and staring I turned around. I thought I was in their way but it turns out they liked what I was putting together. That's all I needed was a little affirmation that what I was selecting was just not awful. So off to the checkout I went.

Once home I got all my supplies ready; wire cutters (DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS PROJECT WITHOUT THEM), scissors, floral wire and hot glue. I can't tell you how many times I burned my fingers. I spread everything out first how I thought it would look good together and then began cutting and gluing and that's it.

Nothing says welcome better than a colorful, cheerful wreath at your front door.
