Yesterday I began our upstairs conversion. Son 2 is getting a new and improved room. When we moved into our home almost 14 years ago, Son 2 was only a few months old. We decided it would be best for he and his brother to be in the two bedrooms connected by a bath. Son 2's room was actually the smallest one upstairs. Last year we purchased new furniture for him and it was really too large for his room. Fast forward to yesterday, we moved his furniture into his new room and WOW!! There is so much more space everything looks so much better. I will be showing photos soon.
Now for the second room redo. Last year I also was given furniture that had been my grandmothers. I always admired her furniture and how it landed at my home I am not sure but it sure is beautiful As you can see from the photos I had it outside to give it a good cleaning. Now that it is in Son 2's old room, I am really getting inspired to design something wonderful.
Here is what I am planning for each of these rooms. For Son 2, he loves the beach and fishing so he is getting a beachy, watery inspired room The fabric sample you see is a taupe linen with white coral. Draperies are currently being made and tomorrow I am looking for curtain rods that will work in the room. You can also see a wonderful print I found for him a while back on One Kings Lane. For my readers not familiar with this site, it is a shopping site with different items featured each day. It is so much fun to see what they are offering and you get great deals too. I saw some unbelievable triple gourd lamps with an aqua base and burlap shades at a store on Thursday. They would be perfect but they were a little pricey. I am trying to think of how I can swing purchasing them because I can't get them out of my mind. I am planning on painting a desk for his dormer area and trying to work out a chalk/dry erase/bulletin board idea for one of the walls in that area. The last thing I am thinking is getting shelving for all of his trophies and special items. I think I may use a whole wall for this and make it really spectacular. When he and I were working through all of these ideas, he told me not to go too crazy because all he really needs is his XBOX.
As for the room with my grandmother's furniture, it really is a blank canvas right now. The only thing I know is that I am going to make it "girlie" and something I really like. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them. The rooms will be painted a creamy, neutral color next week. Oh, how fresh they are going to look. While all of this work is being done on my two new rooms, Son 1's room is hosting lots of "stuff" from Son 2's room and our guest room is filled with things from what used to be an office. I will keep you posted on my progress. Lots to do.

I know you are in your element and having a blast! I predict that those lamps will be in your home very soon...you know you gotta have 'em.
Tell Mr. Sparky CONGRATULATIONS, by the way!
I am going to "look" at the lamps again today and you are probably right.
I will send Mr. Sparky your congrats. Thanks so much.
